Alle goede dingen komen in drieën, luidt het spreekwoord. Dat geldt in ieder geval voor Powerrock-trio’s. Dat klinkt voor de hand liggend en dat is het ook, maar er schuilt nu eenmaal iets magisch in de archetypische bas-gitaar-drums-opstelling. Zeker in de handen van One Dimensional Man, een Italiaans Supertrio dat zich al vier albums lang uiterst veelbelovend ontwikkeld. Tussen noise en blues, tussen hardcore en gevoeliger territoria spelen zich hun stilistische verschuivingen af. Sinds de laatste bezettingswisseling hebben ze nog de kracht van de jeugd ook. De nieuwe gitarist heet Carlo, telt pas twintig lentes en is een virtuoos met spierballen.

All good things come in threes, so they say. Powerrock trio’s do anyway. The archetypical bass-guitar-drums line-up is often a magical formula for success, especially in the hands of One Dimensional Man, an Italian Supertrio which have made four very promising albums so far. Their stylistic developments move between noise and blues, between hardcore and more sensitive areas. Their last new recruit has brought them the power of youth: twenty-year old Carlo is a virtuoso with muscles to go.
