Izabo komt uit Israël en dat kun je horen. Want alsof hun mix
van disco, psychedelica, punk, Led Zeppelin-achtige hardrock en Prince-achtige
nauwe-broeken-funk al niet weird genoeg klinkt, zit er ook een fikse
dot Midden-Oosterse invloeden in hun muziek. Zanger-gitarist Ran
Shem Tov klinkt aan de microfoon als een kruising van Robert Plant
en David Byrne en aan de snaren als Jimmy Page in een djellaba. Met
zulk soort hemelbestormende uitgangspunten moet je het verder kunnen
schoppen dan het circuit van falafel-tenten, en dat is Izabo dan
ook vast van plan.

Homeland Israel is clearly present in Izabo’s music. To their
in itself unusual mix of disco, psychedelica, punk, Led Zeppelin-type
hardrock and Prince-like tight pants funk they add a good bit of Middle
Eastern influences. Singer Ran Shem Tov sings like a combination of
Robert Plant and David Byrne and he plays guitar like Jimmy Page in
a djellaba. Such an exotic blend should get them known far beyond the
borders of Israel.
