Uit alle hoeken en gaten van Europa komen ze dit jaar, de talentvolle artiesten die op EuroSonic de wereld van hun talenten trachten te overtuigen. Neem nou Zuzana Smatanová, een negentien jaar jonge blom uit het kleine en, we twijfelen er niet aan, pittoreske stadje Súlóv-Hradná. Eigenlijk is ze kleuterleidster van beroep, maar al tijdens haar eigen schooltijd hadden piano en fluit geen geheimen meer voor haar. Op gitaar begon ze haar eigen liedjes te schrijven – in het Engels, want tussen de bedrijven door bestudeert ze die taal ook nog. Ze grossiert bovendien in het winnen van talentenjachten: het lijkt Twarres wel. De laatste die ze won heette CocaColaPopStar. Bizar, ja, maar de eerste prijs was mooi wel de opname van een heuse cd. Vandaar ‘Entirely Good’, een debuut dat we met recht veelbelovend mogen noemen.

We have gotten them from all over Europe this year, the artists that will try to convince the world of their talents on EuroSonic. Take Zuzana Smatanová, only nineteen years old, from the small and picturesque town of Súlóv-Hradná. At a very early age this kindergarten teacher mastered piano and flute. She started to write songs on her guitar - in English. For studying English is something else she finds time for. And in the mean time she wins talent contest after talent contest. The last one she won was the CocaColaPopStar. Granted, a bizarre name, but the first prizewinner got to record a real cd. Its outcome is called ‘Entirely Good’, a debut that can justly be called promising.
