Gallagheriaanse britpop
The Stands, dat is vooral Howie Payne. Zijn gouden songs en briljante zangtalent sturen The Stands meer aan dan wat dan ook. Hoewel de aanmoediging van Noel Gallagher, grote man van Oasis, ook flink helpt om The Stands op te stoten in de vaart der volkeren. Ome Noel zag de groep in de Bandwagon Club in thuishaven Liverpool (en dat is nooit weg, zo’n thuishaven aan de Mersey met zo’n historie) en was er zo ondersteboven van dat hij Payne en de zijnen prompt opnametijd aanbood in zijn eigen studio. In zijn songs zoekt Payne naar dezelfde tijdloze schoonheid die ook uit traditionele blues of folk ademt: een mooi, zuiver streven.

The Stands are primarily Howie Payne, the man with the golden songs and brilliant vocals. Another driving force is Noel Gallagher’s encouragement. Uncle Noel saw the band in the Bandwagon Club in home base Liverpool (so from a pop history point of view, they couldn’t have a better hometown) and was so impressed that he instantly offered Payne and his band a chance to record in his own studio. Payne strives for a beauty that’s timeless, the same timelessness that’s found in traditional blues or folk. Beautiful and pure.
