| Luxemburg is nou niet direct het brandpunt van de Europese popcultuur,
maar dat is geen reden om Zap Zoo links te laten liggen. Zap Zoo
is vooral een 'eclectische' band: de muzikanten hebben ervaring
in blues, jazz, wereldmuziek en wat al niet. Minstens zo interessant
zijn hun andere beroepen: er zitten acteurs bij, een psycholoog,
jongerenwerkers, een radio-DJ, een festivalorganisator. Op die manier
raakt Zap Zoo wel aan het schuiven. De groep combineert de liedjes
van voorman Serge Tonnar met geprogrammeerde ritmes, alsmede uitzinnig
getrommel uit allerlei swingende werelddelen. Een jamsessie met
zowel traditionele muzikanten als rappers uit Mozambique kon dan
ook niet uitblijven. Muziek met een wereld-groove.

| Luxemburg is not exactly the centre of European pop culture, but
let this not be a reason to ignore Zap Zoo. Zap Zoo are mostly an
'eclectic' band: the musicians have experience in blues, jazz, world
music and what have you. Equally interesting are their other professions.
They include actors, a psychologist, youth workers, a radio DJ,
and a festival organizer. The band combine front man Serge Tonnar's
songs with rocking guitar rhythms, and ferocious drumming from any
swinging part of the world. A jam session with both traditional
musicians and rappers from Mozambique was inevitable. It's rock
with a world groove.
